 Beef Cost of Production
The Western Beef Development Centre has been working on tracking producer costs for a number of years. The feedback from producers has been overwhelmingly positive about the value of this information. To further assist the beef producer, WBDC has engaged AgMpower, a computer software developer, and Spring Creek Consulting Land and Cattle Consulting to design a product to meet the needs of the producer in projecting their individual costs and savings using different scenarios, and with the help of producer participants, will discern average costs of production of beef producers in the province.
Cost of Production workshops were hosted around the province in late 2009 and early 2010, where the computer software was rolled out and participants were provided with the program for personal use. The WBDC will be using, anonymously, the information and numbers garnered by the producers taking part in the study to create a snapshot of the provinces beef producers.
